Changes in previous versions and releases of Comwin that were available for download.
Beta Version 3.21, later became official version 3.21, build date: 30-April-2001.
New selection boxes have been added to the Import/Export function. These allow you to choose between clearing the table to be imported first and adding new records to the existing records. Records with duplicate keys are never replaced and cause lines to be written to the error log file, Comwin.err.
The following bug report, from the page "Bugs and work-arounds in Version 3.20." has been fixed.
Articles with statistical period "Weekly" are not displayed properly in the Purchase Recommendations window. When trying to decide if there are 52 or 53 weeks in the year 2001, the program gets confused and thinks that week number 01 is the highest week number in the year 2001. It therefore refuses to display and information in 2001 after week 01.
A new registration window has been added. This allows the user to enter registration information such as name, address, monthly licence fee, etc. If you e-mail a copy of this information to Orders@abrasive.se or Orders@comwin.com we will send you back a registration code. Once this code is entered at the bottom of the registration form, Comwin converts itself from "demonstration" to Professional" mode.
Official Version 3.20,
build date: 08-Mar-2001.
The following bug report, from the page "Bugs and work-arounds in Version 3.10 and later beta versions and releases." has been fixed.
"Function not available in expression ....." error message pops up in a number of Comwin windows on start up, rendering them unusable.
This error has turned up in a number of computers, as soon as Comwin is installed, even though an identical version of Comwin in another computer seems to work perfectly!
Cause: Comwin makes use of certain windows, MS office, and visual basic components that can be used, or upgraded, by other windows programs. Microsoft has acknowledged that MS Access applications, like Comwin, made on a computer with one version of these components, can go crazy if installed on a computer with a different version. We were very pleased when, after spending a not insignificant amount of time, trying to figure out what we were doing wrong with Comwin, we discovered that Microsoft described this as a known problem with Access 97 applications. All beta versions 3.20, with build date after 7 April, 2000 but before 8 March 2001.
No significant changes in functionality. Just updates to the demonstration/test data, and little cosmetic system changes.
After September 2000, the user id "Demo" was deleted and replaced by "Comwin", still with no password.
Beta version 3.20,
build date: 7-April- 2000.
Comwin has changed name from version 3.10 to 3.20.
A new form is added for registration. Once registered, it will be possible to change from the demo version to a professional version.
The forms for Purchase recommendations had a wrong horizontal pixel size. It has been fixed.
Beta version 3.11,
build date: 18-Mar-2000.
Fixed error in Test response factors, where clicking on some of the up-down controls causes the form to die.
Fixed the error in the form where one defines new user id's.
Fixed "Nulls" in the statistics file, so the import works.
A new window, to display the licence agreement when Comwin starts, has been added to the start-up routine.
Fixed the following bugs described in the "known bugs and work-arounds" document:
Statistics files with a build date earlier than 17-Mar-2000 may contain invalid "null" values in some fields. These cause "conversion type" errors when trying to import them.
The window for maintaining User id's produces an error when trying to define a new id.
Official Version 3.10,
build date: 12-Dec-1999.
Aside from one major bug fix, there was little significant difference between the functionality in this version and the previous, built in September 1999.
The test/demonstration statistics file was updated.
A problem occurred with the first upload to the web site. Disk 9 was not successfully uploaded at first and an earlier version of disk 9, from September remained available for download, along with disks 1-8 and 10-13. The problems experienced were incredibly minor, and, it was not until 8 February, 2000, that their cause was discovered, and the errant disk 9 file replaced.
The following bug report, from the page "Bugs and work-arounds in the current version" has been fixed.
The import and export options no longer work.
In version 1 of Comwin it was possible to import and export all of the most important files from the file menu.
In version 2 these functions were moved to a new Windows menu option which needed a different user identity to log on: DataManager. This user could import or export any file, as long as Microsoft Access was installed on the computer.
In version 3.00 the DataManager functions stopped working and nobody noticed!
There is a new window in: Modules-system-tools-Import/export where one can export or import tables as text files.
